Is Your Deck Secure?

Home owners who have had their decks for a number of years should consider getting it inspected.  A home owner was visiting a friend recently and the deck fell,  separating from the house.

 

Nearby Car Break- Ins

 Charlotte-Mecklenburg police were investigating a string of car break-ins in South Charlotte in the nearby  Settlers Landing neighborhood..  According to police, the thieves were able to break into the cars through unlocked car doors.  Investigators said the thieves got away with GPS systems, car radios and iPods. 
Make sure you lock your car doors, and report any suspicious activity to the Matthews Police!

Yard Waste Disposal

Please remember that all yard waste ( grass clippings, leaves, etc.) is to be disposed of by putting it in plastic bags ( clear preferred, or leave open dark ones) and left curbside for Monday morning pickup.  NEVER blow leaves or grass into the street!  It clogs the water drains, and is illegal ( you can be fined!)

 

Soliciting

Anyone soliciting door-to-door MUST have a Town of Matthews license /permit to do so ( a Charlotte license isn't relevant). Ask to see their Matthews License, and if they cannot produce it please call the Matthews Police to report them.

 

Color Swatches

We have master color swatches of approved Sardis Plantation colors.  These are available to borrow from the President or the Architectural Committee to get properly matching paints mixed for exterior house painting, trim, shutters, etc..

ACC Forms

Reminder: you need to submit an Architectural Control Committee Form ( located on the Docs & Forms link) for approval of external work to your house or yard that affects appearance.  Even if you believe you are simply repairing rather than changing anything, it's recommended that you submit a form so that a record can be maintained if future questions arise.  Please contact the Architectural committee for any questions.
