Our Raptor Friends

Our neighborhood is blessed with many birds of prey such as owls and hawks.  Sometimes, however, these birds may need a helping hand due to unintended encounters with humans or other wildlife.  The Carolina Raptor Center (CRC) in Huntersville serves as a hospital and rehab center for injured birds of prey.  Several of us in the neighborhood have been trained by CRC to capture and transport these injured birds.  Should you come upon an injured owl, hawk or vulture time is of the essence.  Please call the CRC to report an injured bird.  Also calling one of us directly will usually minimize delays in getting the bird picked up.  After calling, if possible, please keep an eye on the bird’s location until help arrives. 

 Let’s hope these magnificent birds will not need our help but if they do prompt action could save their lives.
